Grupo Arquib and CO2 Revolution lead an ecological tree-planting campaign to restore ecosystems in rural areas surrounding Bogota - GrupoArquib
At Grupo Arquib, we believe
every action matters.
That’s why we joined forces with CO2 Revolution Colombia, a pioneering organization in global forest regeneration through innovative methods, to carry out a tree-planting day in the municipality of Sesquile, Cundinamarca. Thanks to the commitment and active participation of our team, we planted 200 native trees as part of our ongoing effort to contribute to a healthier, more balanced environment.
Five key native species were selected and planted for their roles in ecological restoration and the creation of functional habitats.
- Chilco: A pioneer plant that stabilizes the soil and supports the recovery of eroded land.
- Mortiño: Commonly known as wild agraz, it plays a crucial role in paramo ecosystems by generating moisture through fog condensation and providing food for pollinators.
- Laurel de páramo (or wax laurel): A medium-growth tree that provides shade and moisture, creating favorable conditions for other species.
- Uva camarona: A native fruit-bearing plant that attracts birds and pollinators, essential for reactivating the natural seed bank.
- Encenillo: A slow-growing enrichment species that will become dominant over time, helping consolidate the restored forest.
Each seedling was planted using specific techniques that included the addition of sawdust and lime to balance the soil's pH, prevent disease, and ensure proper root development. Additionally, a symbolic component was incorporated: each tree was tagged with the name of the person who planted it, using wool to avoid damaging the trunk.
This initiative aims to restore ecosystems, strengthen local biodiversity, and reduce our carbon footprint, reaffirming our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. We believe that collective action can create a real impact, which is why we support activities that engage our team in meaningful causes.
Supporting sustainable
women-led businesses
This tree-planting campaign was also part of a broader project that promotes circular economy and local entrepreneurship. Juliana Marin, founder of Hoja Verde, —a natural cosmetics venture based on native plants—shared how initiatives like this one reinforce her work: “We create natural wellness and cosmetic products that are safe for the body and water resources. Our goal is to support both people and the ecosystem. I have been doing this for five years and have planted 300 trees—today alone, we planted 200. That brings me so much joy."
Her project not only produces soaps, hydrosols, dressings, and other eco-friendly products but also promotes recycling and tree planting in exchange for waste materials, creating a circular economy model. Every part of the process is linked to environmental care: from water reuse and composting with plant residues to building a pond that supports production naturally. Planting species like wax laurel or mortino, which are also used in her products, strengthens the sustainability of her business.
Building a better world also means taking care of the one we already have. At Grupo Arquib we will continue to support projects that generate environmental and social value—because we firmly believe that business development and respect for the planet can, and must, go hand in hand.
